What Is Ahi Tuna?

Is It Safe to Eat Ahi Tuna Rare?

Ingredients

2 ahi tuna steaks (1 to 1.5 inches thick)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions
Marinate: Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Pour over tuna steaks and let them marinate in the fridge for at least 10 minutes—or overnight for deeper flavor.
Preheat Your Skillet: Use a nonstick or cast iron skillet. Heat it for 3–5 minutes until very hot. This is key for a good sear.
Sear: Remove tuna from marinade (shake off excess). Place in the hot pan and sear each side for 1.5 to 2 minutes. The outside should be golden; the inside still red.
Rest & Slice: Let steaks rest for a few minutes. Slice against the grain and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.
