Blackened Wahoo is a delicious seafood dish that is not only tasty, but has a good amount of kick from the blackened seasoning! This recipe is amazing but it is also an easy recipe to make on the stovetop or using the side burner on your grill (it does tend to smoke up the kitchen). It’s a great recipe for a fun weekend night meal with friends and family or any time of the week!
Wahoo gets its name from the Hawaiian word “ono” which translates to “good to eat” it is closely related to King Mackerel and is marketed both as Ono and Wahoo fish. Wahoo has a mild-sweet tasting flesh with a firm texture, moderate fat, and large circular flakes when cooked.
2 wahoo blocks - This is a very large fish, so Wahoo is sold in cuts called “blocks” instead of Filets.
Rinse Wahoo with cold water and pat dry with paper towels
Mix spices in a small mixing bowl and cover fish completely with it.
Heat Butter in a skillet. Make sure Skillet is hot before adding fish to it. Cook for 3 minutes on each side.
Move to a plate and squeeze lemon on top and serve.
Mashed potatoes or any rice dish make a great side, or pair with grilled vegetables or a fresh salad.
